SUMMER 2024

NEWS FROM YOUR NO. 1 SOURCE FOR TERMINAL TRACTORS AND PARTS

Turbo Now Leases All Five Leading Brands of Terminal Tractors

At Turbo Terminal Tractors, we are thrilled to announce that we now offer leasing options for all five top terminal tractor brands: Autocar, Capacity, Ottawa, Terberg, and TICO.

“We are the only company in the U.S. that leases all five brands,” CEO Chris Smith said. “That sets us apart from everyone else. This move allows us to cater to a wider range of customer needs and preferences, ensuring that businesses can find the perfect terminal tractor solution for their operations.”

We have supplied terminal tractors to warehouses and distribution centers since we began operation. In the last few years, we have expanded into ports and railyards. We currently have terminal tractors in Port Everglades, Port of Jacksonville, Port of Savannah, Port of Tampa Bay, and railyards in Chicago and New Jersey.

By offering all five leading brands of terminal tractors, we can now provide our clients with unparalleled flexibility and choice.

You will always see our familiar red bumpers on your terminal tractors regardless of which of the five brands you use. We like to say when you see the red bumper, you know everything will be fine. You can count on our team to eliminate any downtime with your operation. We also back up our leasing program with Turbo Service Solutions, a highly advanced preventative maintenance program that keeps our customers’ terminal tractors in peak running condition.

“Any company can rent a truck if they have it, but taking care of it and keeping your operation up and running is what distinguishes us from our competition,” Smith said.

Whether you oversee a busy port, distribution center, or large warehouse, our dedicated team is committed to helping you discover the perfect terminal tractor.

This is just the beginning. We have more exciting news coming soon. We will keep you posted.

Happy Trails to George Bell on His Retirement

George Bell
George Bell, who helped start Turbo’s terminal tractor leasing program eight years ago, has retired.

“Turbo was and still is my family,” said George, who was a Regional Sales Director. “It was fulfilling to be part of something that grew to become successful – and continues to grow. My small part in a big vision will never be forgotten.”

Throughout his tenure, George played a pivotal role in establishing Turbo as one of the largest terminal tractor leasing companies in the United States.

“George’s contributions to Turbo have been immeasurable,” said Chris Smith, Turbo Chief Operating Officer. “His dedication, professionalism, and work with our customers have left an indelible mark on our company. We wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.”

So what does George plan for the rest of his life?

“I want to write a book, write a daily blog, and work out,” he said. “Also, we are preparing our current home of 31 years to sell, with plans to build a new home.”

Sounds like a good plan. Thank you George and enjoy your retirement!

Team Member Spotlight: Taylor Whitley

Regional Sales Director, Runner and Dad

Taylor Whitley

Whether on the job or off from work, Taylor Whitley, Turbo’s Regional Sales Director, does a lot of running around.

“I run a lot of 5Ks, and my goal is to finish a marathon someday,” said Taylor, who also enjoys playing golf and being a dad. Taylor and his wife, Bailey, are new parents of 1-year-old son, Henry.
Taylor hit the ground running more than three years ago with our sales team.

“Taylor is a valuable member of the Turbo team, leveraging his industry knowledge to provide effective solutions for our customers,” COO Chris Smith said. “We are glad to have him on our team.”

Lately, with our expansion into seaport operations, Taylor has played a key role in that growing sector of our business.

“With the customers in the ports, everything is about speed,” he said. “Everything moves so quickly in the ports and every second counts. We took our transportation mindset and applied it to the ports, which has been an advantage for us. You need a legitimate service background like ours to service the ports. Speed is the name of the game.”

Responsiveness also sets Turbo apart from its competition.

“Turbo will move mountains to make sure our customers have what they need,” Taylor said. “We will do whatever it takes. Customers can count on our service. They can always call and will receive beneficial information.”

Summer Maintenance Tips from Turbo Service Solutions

Don’t Let the Heat Take a Toll

As we enter the summer months, terminal tractor operators must be prepared to face the challenges that come with the change to hot weather. To ensure the smooth operation and longevity of their yard dog, it is crucial for operators to perform specific maintenance procedures during this time.

  • The rising temperatures can put a strain on the engine, making it more susceptible to overheating. Operators should check the coolant levels and ensure that the radiator and hoses are in good condition. Any signs of leaks or damage should be addressed promptly to prevent any potential breakdowns.
  • Conduct regular driver-trip inspections before each shift. Check all fluids and tires daily and drain the air tanks every day.
  • Inspect the battery terminals for any signs of corrosion and ensure a secure connection. If necessary, clean the terminals and apply a protective coating.
  • Changing the oil and filter frequently keeps your terminal tractor running efficiently. The summer heat can cause fluids to break down more quickly, compromising the vehicle’s performance.

If you ever have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our Turbo Service Solutions team at 844-468-8726.

It’s important to be diligent with your terminal tractor inspections during the summer.
