TURBO TALK – Summer 2023

Jun 22, 2023

NEWS FROM YOUR NO. 1 SOURCE FOR TERMINAL TRACTORS AND PARTS

Finally!

Turbo Moves into New Savannah Leasing Office

After working out a few kinks in our initial planning, our new port-side office in Savannah is now officially open for business.

Turbo Terminal Tractors and our sister company Syfan Logistics are up and running in our new Savannah office, located in Port Wentworth less than two miles from the Port of Savannah.

Our grand opening on June 1 drew over 200 people including several members of the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce who were there to welcome us to the area.

“As the second largest port in the United States, Savannah was important for our team to be in the heart of Georgia’s ocean-shipping industry,” said Chris Smith, Turbo chief operating officer. “Our new office will be essential to servicing our customers at the port and across our fast-growing state and the Southeast.”

Turbo’s Savannah office is led by Juan Santoy, Vice President Of Operations. His team includes national sales representatives Shane Ritter and Taylor Whitley, who stand ready to assist customers with short- and long-term leasing contracts as well as daily rentals, and fleet administrative assistant Sara Clay.

We will have a large inventory of terminal tractors in Savannah along with a mobile maintenance truck for standard repairs. If major repairs are needed, we can transport the tractor to our Gainesville, Ga., headquarters and provide a replacement vehicle from our new location.

Syan Logistics has members from its Port Drayage Service team onsite at the office, providing final-mile delivery of containers both ways between ports and its carrier partners.

We hope you will drop in to visit us.

Finding Solutions Drives Turbo Terminal Tractors

Chris Smith
COO

Our company was born from the logistics background of the Syfan family and their company Syfan Logistics.

From our roots in Northeast Georgia, we have expanded into a nationwide company serving markets across the country. However, as a family-owned operation, we take pride in our focus on personal service.

In the transportation industry you expect everything to happen now – as it should – without fail. With the Syfans, the answer to their logistics customers is always yes. We have applied that philosophy to Turbo Terminal Tractors.

As a good example, I received a call on a Friday night from a company in South Carolina that had terminal tractors down and desperately needed replacements. They contacted several terminal tractor leasing companies and were told Tuesday would be the earliest they would receive replacement vehicles. The four-day delay would have crippled their warehouse operation.

With our large inventory of terminal tractors, it is easy for us to say yes. I told them we could get terminal tractors to them in a few hours. We put two on our hauler, and the company’s distribution center was back at full capacity later that night.

It’s situations like that where you realize the importance of finding solutions for customers – and finding them quickly. That’s the core of what we do at Turbo.

Maintenance Tip: Clean DEF Cap

It’s important to clean the cap on your Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank on a regular basis.

Sometimes when air hits the tank cap it causes crystals to form. These crystals can fall into the tank and puncture it.

The crystals also can clog the DEF pump and injector. When this happens it limits the terminal tractor speed and power.

If you have any questions about the maintenance of your terminal tractor, contact our maintenance team at 844-468-8726.

Expansion Finished: New Space And Technology Added

Our expansion project at our Gainesville, Ga., location is now complete, providing 30 percent more space.

The renovation added space to our operations center while creating room for a conference room and phone rooms. We also have taken this opportunity to update our technology including state-of-the art smart screens.

This project is part of our sister company Syfan Logistics’ 46,000 square-foot expansion. Syfan converted four of our service bays to two floors of office space to add 125 team members. Three new service bays have been added to the end of the building.

Our operation center features smart screens.

Employee Spotlight:
Evan Key, Service Technician, Savannah office

Since he joined the Turbo team earlier this year, Evan Key has been our advance man on wheels.

As our first Savannah-based team member and service technician, Evan was tasked with starting relationships between our company and the local terminal tractor fleets operating in and around our Port Wentworth location. For months leading up to our June grand opening, he’s been introducing Turbo’s reliable maintenance services throughout the Coastal Georgia region.

Evan, who joined the Turbo team in February 2023, stays on the move in a mobile maintenance truck. Far from working a desk job, his daily calendar is always on the road with visits to area storage facilities where he provides critical maintenance and repairs to keep tractor fleets in operation.

When he isn’t servicing terminal tractors, Evan likes to spend his time working on his own vehicles. Whether it be his truck, 4-wheeler, or boat, Evan enjoys tinkering with the mechanics to see if he can make any performance improvements.

Evan’s favorite aspect of working at Turbo is the family-like atmosphere between all of the team members. “Turbo really is a fantastic place to work. Everyone treats you fairly and with respect, and they have become like a second family to me.”

With the Turbo Savannah office officially open, Evan is excited to continue his maintenance work alongside some other members of the Turbo team. If you spot Evan and his truck out on the roads of Savannah, give him a wave and a “Go Turbo!”
