Turbo To Open Leasing Office in Savannah

New operation based in Savannah Global Logistics Center at Port Wentworth

Turbo Terminal Tractors is bringing its leasing operations to Savannah, opening a new full-service office near the second largest port in the United States.

Located in the Savannah Global Logistics Center, our 2,000 square-foot leasing office is in Port Wentworth, less than two miles from the Port of Savannah.

“We’ll have a full-service office in Savannah with terminal tractors on site to serve the growing area in and around the port,” says Chris Smith, Turbo Terminal Tractors President, Operations. “We already have a strong customer base in Savannah, so this will allow us to better serve them and future customers.”

Juan Santoy, our vice president of operations, will head the Savannah office, while two national sales representatives, Shane Ritter and Taylor Whitley, will assist customers with fleet leasing such as our exclusive New Every Two™ leasing program as well as daily rentals of our terminal tractors.

We will have an on-site storage area for an expanded inventory of terminal tractors in Savannah. A mobile maintenance truck also will be available for standard repairs, and we can transport tractors to Gainesville if major repairs are needed.

“For port-related customers, it will be more cost-efficient with less downtime in having our terminal tractors and staff in Savannah,” Smith says.

Our goal is to build out our offices for full staffing and operation by April, if not sooner.

Our Savannah office is located in the new Savannah Global Logistics Center just two miles from the Port of Savannah.

Construction of our office in Savannah is underway and should be completed by the spring.

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT:
Juan Santoy, Vice President of Operations

Juan Santoy has been named the new Vice President of Operations for the Savannah office of Turbo Terminal Tractors. He joined our company in June 2022.

Originally from Chicago, Juan describes himself as a “Wrench” – meaning he is a solution-oriented mechanic at heart who thrives on fixing things and solving problems.

Before moving down south, Juan started at H&M International Transportation in New Jersey as Director of Maintenance. In 2019, he joined TICO, our terminal tractor partner, as Product Support Manager.

Working with TICO, Juan became familiar with our company as TICO’s largest dealer, opening up the opportunity to join Turbo and still be part of the TICO family. As our Vice President of Maintenance for the past year, Juan immediately jumped in to take an active role in enhancing our operations and customer support.

When he’s away from the office, Juan enjoys playing tennis, building drones, and spending quality time with his wife, Gabby, and their four children—Nasayah, Honor, Savannah, and Max.

Juan is excited to lead Turbo’s new Savannah office and broaden the scope and strength of our business even further for our customers and partners.

Winter Maintenance Tip: Drain Air Tanks Daily

It’s important to check your terminal tractor daily, especially during winter.

Winter is coming soon. So, get ready – because you can’t afford the downtime of even one terminal tractor going down due to neglect.

One of the more important maintenance reminders during colder months is to drain your terminal tractor unit’s air tanks daily. This can prevent freezing of water in your air-brake system and an unexpected winter breakdown.

In addition, it’s important to continue these daily maintenance tips to keep your terminal tractors running at peak efficiency:

  • Blue cap is for DEF fluid only.
  • Don’t ignore a check engine light
  • Conduct regular driver-trip inspections
  • Check all fluids and tires daily

These are just a few simple ways to extend the “uptime” of your terminal tractors. Contact our service manager Michael Trump if you have any questions at 844-468-8726, ext. 7832.

Main Office Renovation to Expand Our Meeting and Operations Space

Adding three new service bays provides space for office expansion.

We are making progress on our latest expansion project at our Gainesville, Ga. location with completion planned around the spring of 2023.

When finished, Turbo Terminal Tractors will have about a third more space for operations and meeting rooms.

The renovation creates a new conference room, phone rooms and more space for our operations center. We also will update our technology, including state-of-the art smart screens.

The project is part of our sister company Syfan Logistics’ expansion that will provide space for up to 140 new team members on their side of our shared office building.

As part of Syfan’s addition, we are converting four of Turbo’s service bays into corporate office space. To offset the loss of the four bays, we then add back three new service bays at our end of the building.

Sound confusing? Then, please visit us to see the end product. We’d love to show you around when all the dust settles in 2023 – and this same invitation goes out for our new Savannah office, too!
